What is Everyday Surviving?
Am I one of those radical, militia type Survivalists?
Does my family wear homespun clothing and live in a bunker?
Do I hunt for all of my food?
Oh goodness gracious no! Those things couldn’t be further from the truth, we are just everyday kind of folks. My husband and I have four kids, a great son-in-law and our first grand baby on is on the way. We run four businesses, homeschool our youngest son and are loving life. I am just a Mom, Wife, & Teacher who is passionate about taking care of my family in good times, and bad.
See that’s what makes Everyday Surviving different than the other guys, we don’t just teach you how to prepare for the future, we encourage you to make the most of today. We aren’t just gloom and doom, even though that has to be addressed occasionally. We want you to live life to the fullest and embrace the amazing life that God has in store for you, while preparing for the not so amazing times.
In a nutshell Everyday Surviving is your resource for education, motivation & encouragement in the following specific areas-
Embrace your Past- We all carry our own unique set of experiences, good and bad. Society encourages us to use these experiences as a crutch or excuse to not be the best we can be. At Everyday Surviving, we encourage you to always give 100% and take those experiences in stride.
A little about my past. My lifelong dream was to be an Elementary school teacher, but at the age of 19 my dream took a little detour. In the Fall of what should have been my sophomore year in college I gave birth to my oldest son, Jordan, and became a single teen mom. I raised Jordan, with the help of my parents, while working full-time and attending college. It took a lot of sacrifice and tears but when he was 5 years old I graduated with my BA in Elementary. A year later Jordan and I moved out of state, completely alone without knowing a soul, to start my first teaching job.
I could have given up on my dreams, but I didn’t. I pushed through. I didn’t blame anyone but myself for the circumstances I was in and I persevered.
I want to encourage others who are in challenging circumstances to keep pushing and to still dream. Doing this requires you to embrace your past and all of the good and bad experiences it holds, while living life to the fullest.
Live on the Edge- A very wise young man once said,
“If you’re not living on the edge, you’re taking up too much space!”
Just imagine standing at the edge of the Grand Canyon. Every muscle in your body is tense. Your senses are all on high alert. You are aware of the wind direction, what others around you are doing, and the placement of your feet and posture. Every thought and movement is deliberate, because you don’t want to fall off.
That is how we should live our lives daily…on the edge. We should be alert and aware of everything around us. Every thought, decision, and movement should be deliberately moving us towards our goals. Coasting is a waste of time and a waste of your life!! Live in the moment & live on the edge, but don’t forget to plan out where you are going.
Prepare for the Future- Preparing for the future covers a wide array of topics such as; setting goals, education & training, teaching your kids, budgeting, investing, emergency plans for common and uncommon disasters, and more.
Though our posts and products, we hope to prepare our friends for the expected and the unexpected challenges in life. Sometimes it is hard to face the reality that bad things sometimes happen. We conquer this fear of the unknown with education and helping you formulate a game plan. We plan for football season, vacation, company coming, or what we are doing next weekend, but are we planning for our future? Don’t get overwhelmed! Everyday Surviving is here to help you each step of the way. It’s important to have a plan of action, while always remembering to leave a legacy.
Leave a Legacy- Leave a legacy? What does that have to do with Everyday Surviving? It’s important to acknowledge the fact that you were placed on this Earth for a reason. You have been equipped with the talents, skills, and abilities to accomplish exactly what you were destined for. Sometimes it’s hard for us to see our own strengths and even harder to for us to determine the path we were made to travel. We are here to help you discover your strengths and formulate a plan to use them to achieve great things.
You are not like the feather in Forrest Gump!
You are not just floating in the wind with no direction or purpose! You are surrounded by friends, family and co-workers that are influenced by YOU! What kind of impact do you make on their lives? When you are out of the room, what do they say about you? That is the legacy you are leaving, is it the one you want to leave?
As you can see Everyday Surviving is not just about prepping, TEOTWAWKI (The End of the World As We Know It), or survivalism. We are here to help the everyday Jane or Joe prepare for the future and their everyday lives.
Here you learn how to live life to the fullest and take care of your family in the midst of the trials and blessings of Everyday Surviving!
